About
Ultramid® A3XTG5 R01
Ultramid® A3XTG5 R01 is an advanced, high-heat stabilized 25% glass fiber reinforced polyamide 66 (PA66) compound engineered by BASF for injection molding applications. The specific "XT" (Extended Temperature) designation represents BASF's proprietary heat-aging package integrated seamlessly into the base nylon matrix.
Unlike standard glass-filled nylons that break down under prolonged high thermal loads, this grade is formulated specifically to retain its structural properties in extreme-heat environments. The "R01" suffix indicates its specific regional production line revision and baseline material control.
Key Features and Properties:
Polyamide 66 matrix loaded with 25% premium glass fibers (PA66-GF25), giving an optimal balance of structural strength and low component weight.
Ultra-High Heat-Aging Resistance: Engineered to endure continuous, long-term operational heat exposure up to 220°C for over 3,000 hours, and survive short-term intermittent temperature peaks up to 240°C.
Mechanical Integrity: High tensile modulus and superior stiffness, offering excellent resistance to mechanical elongation and deformation under heavy load.
Fatigue & Vibration Endurance: Superior resistance to cyclic fatigue and structural macro-cracking caused by harsh, continuous powertrain harmonic vibrations.
Flammability Performance: Rated natively as UL 94 HB (Horizontal Burn). It is not an active flame-retardant grade and does not possess V-0 self-extinguishing chemistry.
Fluid & Chemical Resistance: Exceptional barrier properties against aggressive hot automotive lubricants, transmission fluids, blow-by gases, and engine coolants.
Processing Characteristics: High thermal stability
Common Applications:
Automotive Charge Air Systems: High-heat powertrain components including turbocharger ducts, intercooler end caps, air intake manifolds, and blow-by gas tubes.
Engine Thermal Management: Integrated water pump housings, fluid transport pipes, thermostat housings, and engine oil pan modules exposed to hot fluids.
High-Voltage E-Mobility: Structural structural brackets, busbar mounts, and internal battery enclosure framing where electrical parts demand high physical rigidity combined with continuous battery thermal dissipation.
Industrial Machinery: Structural wear components, dynamic levers, and heavy-duty tool housings functioning in high ambient environment temperatures.
